Peter Lion was inclined towards writing from a very young age. During his maturing years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry as well as wrote a number of short stories. His talent in this field was further honed when after enrolling in the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he started contributing to the students school newspaper.
He got down to make a career of his passion for the words first by acquiring a degree in Journalism from the Southern Connecticut State University. He published his very first magazine article inside the Hartford Magazine before he had graduated with his journalism degree.
He entered into the television business even before he’d completed his college. A few months before graduation, Peter Lion took up employment with WTNH-TV as a part time graphics operator. This television channel was an affiliate of the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, had no experience in this industry grabbed this chance to gain an entry and to develop a foothold in the news and television industry.
He mastered the ropes quickly, understanding the technicalities of the workings of the television network and continued to be a part of the channel for more than a time period of two years.
He then moved to Boston and started working together with WSBK as a Technical Director. He labored on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. Nevertheless, his desire to be in television and his passion for writing pulled him back to his home state as a part of a little television station start up.
He joined this team as a director as well as a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, which was to become the first in the state. He grabbed this chance of showcasing his talent and knowledge as with his stint in Boston he has had the capacity of working together with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to build the show from the beginning.
Peter Lion moved to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing two years with this start-up. In his stint with this television network, he exploited the many facets of his talent and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It had been throughout his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
He then moved back to Connecticut and became a part of ESPN sports network. Still an integral part of ESPN, he is in charge of a variety of their shows like Sports Centre as well as the NFL Draft as part of his position in the organization as a Director. His main show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a 2 time winner of the Emmy awards, although he has been nominated frequently for his contribution while in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work in Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Apart from working, Peter Lion is presently working on his 2nd book. He’s also a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer as well as guitarist
